Good Sports + Healthy Eating Program

14th July 2013

Clubs such as ours play a significant role in the community and therefore have a responsibility to our members and their families. In recognition of this, The Beenleigh Netball Association has elected to participate in the Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports + Healthy Eating program.

The program is run in Queensland by Good Sports Qld in conjunction with the Queensland Government and the Australian National Preventive Health Alliance. The program has been designed to assist clubs with the responsible management of alcohol and tobacco smoke and the provision and promotion of healthy food and drink options; it is the only nationwide program of its kind.

As a community based club, our involvement in this program is a way for our club to promote a healthy and welcoming club culture whilst working to consistently meet our duty of care obligations. As an already proactive club, we believe that participation in the Good Sports + Healthy Eating program will bring recognition for our existing efforts and ensure that we continue actively striving to ensure a healthy and welcoming environment for our members.

To become Level 1 accredited, we will address a number of criteria including continuing to abide by laws in relation to alcohol consumption, ensuring our facilities remain smoke free and providing and promoting healthy food and drink options at the canteen.
